Cater Allen Private Bank offers clients the opportunity to hold current accounts in sterling, US dollars and euro with instant transfers between linked accounts.

Information for Clients: Instant transfers from your sterling account to another linked currency account can be made via our Client Team, who you can call on 0800 092 3300. Instant transfers from your US dollar or euro account to another linked currency (including sterling) account can only be made via the Client Team.

Exchange rates are shown below, please note these are updated Monday - Friday; weekends will show Friday's exchange rate.

Sterling Sell Rates

These sterling Buy Rates are used in the following instances:

  • For internal linked account transfers* from your US dollar or euro account to your sterling account
  • For in-bound US dollar or euro deposits being credited to your sterling account,
  • For sterling CHAPS/TT/SWIFT payments*** made from your US dollar or euro account.**

We can accept deposits and send payments in a variety of different currencies (see listing), for indicative exchange rates on any of these currencies please call our Client Team on 0800 092 3300.

* Preferential rates are available on internal linked account transfers only for amounts of GBP £25,000 & over (currency equivalent) Please contact the Client Team for further details.

** Preferential rates may be available on external payments of GBP £25,000 & over (currency equivalent) made to another bank. Please contact the Client Team for further details.

*** For certain transactions additional charges may apply, please see our Banking Tariff for details.

**** Please be aware that preferential rates are only available between 9am-3pm, Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). Internal linked account transfers for amounts of GBP £25,000 and over (currency equivalent) can only be executed Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

Exchange rate used to calculate charges

Charges will be applied to inbound deposits/cheques and outbound transfers/payments for non-sterling currencies.  Full details can be found in our Banking Tariff.

The fee for receiving in-bound electronic deposits will be charged at $11.00 for US dollar bank accounts and € 8.00 for euro bank accounts.

The fee for negotiation of Foreign Cheques will be charged at $12.00 for US dollar bank accounts and €8.50 for euro bank accounts.

The fee for CHAPS payments and Telegraphic Transfers will be charged at $40.00 for US dollar bank accounts and € 29.00 for euro bank accounts.
